Person grilling food outdoors at The Woodland Dining

About WDC

The Woodland Dining Club began with a fire, some venison, and a simple idea: that food tastes better when you know where it comes from.

Max has always had a deep connection to the outdoors. A lifelong passion for country sports and wild food meant much of his time was already spent in the woods, on the land, and around the fire. But it was during the Covid-19 pandemic that the first sparks of The Woodland Dining Club were lit.

Max's Story

Anchor 1

With formal shoots cancelled and deer populations rising, Max was asked to help manage local wildlife. A skilled and passionate cook with a zero-waste mindset, he began preparing the animals himself — and offering cuts of wild venison through Facebook to people who couldn’t get out to buy groceries. The response was immediate. People loved the honesty, the flavour, and the connection to the food.

It was a turning point. Max realised that his real passion lay in showcasing this approach to food to others — not just the sporting community, but anyone with an appetite for flavour, adventure, and getting back to basics.

The Woodland Dining Club was born from that idea. A place to gather, cook, and eat around the fire. A space to celebrate seasonal, wild food — with no waste, no pretence, and no barrier between field and plate.

Whether you're new to game or a seasoned shot, every experience is crafted to reconnect you with the land, the seasons, and the stories behind what you eat. From deer stalking at dawn to firepit suppers in the woods, Max invites you to see wild food not as a novelty, but as a way of life.

This is real food, cooked simply, shared joyfully — and always with deep respect for the land it comes from.
